INFORMAL FILM EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS AND PUPILS

WHAT IS “AFTERSCHOOL”?

In the year 2022/2023 Kino Bize, in cooperation with the film studio “Apagon AS” and the EEA and Norway Grants, offers an extensive programme of free film education, inviting teachers and pupils to familiarise themselves with the world of film in theory and practice

"Kino Bize Afterschool" is made of:

icon 2

DIGITAL FREE-ACCESS CATALOGUE

FILMMAKING WORKSHOPS

24 filmmaking workshops for pupils around the schools in Latvia, as well as online lessons.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

The moving image has become one of the main communication modes of the century, so for both young people and adults, it is of utmost importance to fully understand it. Film influences how viewers perceive themselves and others, gain ideas about history and think about events happening in the world. There are more films made than ever before and we are sure that it is possible to integrate them creatively and meaningfully into the learning process.

FILMS CAN HELP ILLUSTRATE DIFFERENT TOPICS IN CLASSES, TALK ABOUT PERSONALITIES AND ANALYSE RELATIONSHIPS. YOU CAN THINK ABOUT CINEMA IN TERMS OF VISUAL METAPHORS, ART STYLES AND TECHNICAL POSSIBILITIES. TEACHERS PLAY A KEY ROLE IN THIS PROCESS

Daniela Zacmane,

author of the teachers programme

Therefore, alongside lectures for teachers, we will also offer a free-access catalogue with methodological materials that will allow teachers to use film as a valuable learning tool.
