Īsfilmu programma Europanorama II

EUROPANORAMA 2025 piedāvā Eiropas jaunāko īsfilmu programmu bezmaksas seansos kinoteātrī "Kino Bize" 9. un 10. jūnijā. Eiropas īsfilmu izlase, kurā iekļauti dažādu stilu un pieeju darbi – animācijas, eksperimentālās, spēlfilmas un dokumentālās filmas.

Filmas tiks demonstrētas oriģinālvalodā ar subtitriem angļu valodā.

Programmu piedāvā Ļubļanas Starptautiskais īsfilmu festivāls un Transit Film Bazaar.

PROGRAMMA

GIOVANNA, FORZA!
Dir. Natalia Gaisenok, CA, 20 min.
Signora Giovanna can do anything: she sews clothes, crochets tablecloths and knits sweaters. She also grows flowers and vegetables, cooks delicious meals, bakes, and makes preserves and wine. Her six children remember their strict upbringing and know the price of immigration. Her many grandchildren can’t agree on which profession would suit her best if she worked outside the home. Do we know what our mothers and grandmothers dreamt of becoming?

DARK MATTER
Dir. Ausra Lukosiuniene, LT, 20 min.
Talented architect and visionary man, who left his life unexpectedly ten years ago, and who did not fit into the standard architectural frameworks. As the architect of many of the Centre for Contemporary Art's exhibitions in Lithuania after collapse of USSR, he spent a large part of his life at the museum. It is here that the artist's daughter Elena walks, having to unload the artist's legacy from the museum. The visit becomes a tender farewell and a touch of her father's work, as well as the projects that were never realised. Dark matter is not only the title of the film, but also the title of the architect's last phase of work: a black as a hole in space of sadness and Ozarinskas own words: "We haven't done anything more".

SOCK'S MANIFESTO

VISIT

Maria and Waldemar Nowak, a couple of officers from the Office for Foreigners, come with an unannounced visit to Lilianna and Édouard to examine whether their marriage is real or fake, serving only for the legalization of stay of Édouard, who is Algerian. The decision to grant the residence card to Édouard depends on the course of the visit. The visit tests relationships in both marriages, walks on a very thin line of the borders and ethics of officers’ examination, and explores the shades of racism.

Haunted Burqa

Experimental Documentary by Hellen Rose, Performance Artist and Musician living in Jalalabad Afghanistan. A deep and moving autobiographical short film experiencing a day in the life under the burqa for an Australian national. From a suicide bombing to singing and creating a musical, magical homophonic 'ecstatic' with the 100 year old Sufi Shaman in the garden.

REIGN

While model making is usually shown from the perspective of the model makers, "REIGN" takes on the perspective of the models themselves. Rarely is the mundanity of this world interfered with by its gigantic creators, and when it is, their motives seem arbitrary.

CATARACT
Dir. Łukasz Iwanicz, PL, 15 min.
“Cataract” is a black-and-white documentary film about three strong women who always had it rough. Despite the tedium of everyday life and the sense of helplessness, they still try to find the meaning in the world around them. The film explores existential themes and the concept of happiness. The camera captures the character’s surroundings, showing the women during their everyday activities. The camerawork coupled with unusual shot framing in frontal closeups brings the viewer closer to the characters without compromising the universal nature of the film’s message. Landscapes with staffage emphasise the sense of loneliness, offering the viewer a space for thought and reflection. How much suffering can a person endure and where do they look for hope?

Worldlines IV

A surreal story about religious fanaticism: a priest pronounces an incendiary speech at a small church in an isolated village. Two girls try to avoid its consequences.
